TOOL BUYING GUIDES

Specify the bit. Count the supplied unit.

Two practical checks for a screwdriver-bit or tool-set enquiry.

01 / BIT FIT

PH2 describes the tip, not the whole bit.

Record the tip profile and size, overall bit length, shank interface and holder retention separately. Include the holder or driver model so the mating arrangement can be checked.

FieldWhat to writeWhy it matters
Working tipFor example PH2, H4 or T20Identifies the screw-side profile and size
LengthOverall bit length in mmKeeps reach requirements distinct from tip size
Holder endShank shape, nominal size and stated formIdentifies the driver-side interface
RetentionHolder model and engagement / locking arrangementLets the supplier check the actual combination

A real catalogue comparison

Bosch lists PH2 examples at 25 mm with ISO 1173 C6.3 (part 2607001511) and at 49 mm with ISO 1173 E6.3 (part 2607001528). Both use a nominal 1/4-inch external hex shank. The separate length and form fields make a more precise enquiry than “PH2 bit”. See the Bosch catalogue options.

Wera’s 815/1 holder specifies compatibility with C6.3 and E6.3 bits. Check the stated compatibility of your own holder in the same way. See the Wera holder reference.

These manufacturer examples explain catalogue fields. Specifications for a Vereyan enquiry come from the selected Vereyan option and its confirmed supplied packaging.

02 / SUPPLIED QUANTITY

A piece, a pack and a set are different units.

State the quantity in the unit shown for the selected option. Keep the number of sales packs separate from the number of tools or bits inside each pack.

EnquiryClear quantity statementCheck before acceptance
Individual tool20 pieces of the specified optionIndividual packaging and outer packing
Pack of identical bits3 packs × confirmed pieces per packAll bits are the same selected size and length
Mixed tool set2 complete sets with the confirmed contents listEvery tip size, handle, holder and accessory count

The quantities above are examples of how to write an enquiry. Use the published sales unit for the actual product. For a mixed set, request an itemised contents list; a photograph or a total piece count alone does not identify every supplied size.

In the listed ratcheting set, 38 counts the bits: 32 short and 6 extended. Enquiry quantities count complete sets, including the driver assembly and black case.
